Ghana Optometric Association Backs Digital Eye Care at EyeFocus App Launch

Accra, Ghana – July 1, 2026 – The Ghana Optometric Association, GOA, joined key stakeholders on Tuesday, July 1st for the official launch of the EyeFocus App, a new digital platform aimed at improving access to eye care services across Ghana.

The program, organized by Feyenally and AccessPlus Communications Ltd and supported by leading optometry research scientists in Ghana, brought together policymakers, health professionals, and industry leaders to discuss the future of digital eye health.

Dignitaries present included the CEO of Access Plus Communications, the Mayor of Accra, the GETFund Administrator, as well as GOA Executives and members. NGOs in Eyecare, Ophthalmic nurses and other health professionals. Their presence underscored the growing collaboration between government, private sector, and the optometric community to tackle Ghana’s eye care challenges.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Samuel Bert Boadi-Kusi commended the initiative, noting that with only about 200 optometrists serving over 33 million Ghanaians, digital solutions like EyeFocus are critical to bridging the access gap.

“Technology is the next frontier for preventive eye care in Ghana,” a GOA representative said. “This app will help Ghanaians book eye exams, find accredited optometrists, and access reliable eye health education. GOA is committed to working with AccessPlus Communications to ensure all services meet the standards of eyecare in Ghana and globally.

The EyeFocus App is expected to also provide vision screening tools and connect users to eye care providers nationwide, supporting GOA’s long-term goal of “Clear Vision for All Ghanaians.”

The launch marks another step in GOA’s advocacy for innovation, early detection, and public education.

The app is available at Playstore on Android for download and an IOS Version coming soon
